In past years I planted a few vegetables every summer simply because I enjoy having fresh vegetables on the table. Today because of a pink slip, I will plant a larger garden, spend more time tending this garden in an effort to reduce my food bill.
Cell phone, cable Tv and DSL service will soon be a thing of the past. They will all be canceled and service shut off by the end of April. I paid off and cut up credit cards years ago so that is one expense I don’t have to worry about. I will not renew my postal mail box this year, just another nice to have but not required service that I can live without.
Prepaying and transferring funds into my ‘new’ no fee checking account and using echecks to pay utilities will save me check and postage cost. This account will cover most if not all of my recurring bills for at least 1 year. Property taxes, car insurance, annual registration fees, utilities, land line telephone service have been guesstimated and will be funded here.
Taking lessons from grandpa, I have worked, saved and payed off my property, home and car. Unlike some, I have paid cash of most everything for years. If I did not have the cash in my pocket I knew that I could not afford it and refused to borrow money to live beyond my means.
Being unemployed will be a new experience and to be truthful I am looking forward to having time to do some of the things I enjoy doing. I have many projects that I have wanted to do for years but could not find time to devote to these projects.
Baking bread has never been on the top of my list of thing to do today, however, now that I have the time I think I will get grandma’s old cook book out and teach myself how to make and bake fresh home made bread. I now have the time if I can only master the technical aspect of making good tasting and good for you fresh breads.

A roommate recommended me to check out this website, brill post, fanstatic read… keep up the cool work!
